Conditions

The power of character in PoE depends on gear, build and level. If the appropriate equipment can be purchased for orbs, the leveling will be more difficult. Unique items are meant to be less powerful overall than high-level rare items, but offer unique gameplay and allow special character builds to be based around them. Until reaching the certain level, the gamer cannot appreciate the power of the selected build. In addition to the experience loss, death in the Hardcore league moves the character from that league and into the Standard league. It's important to note that characters that die in a hardcore challenge league are also moved to Standard, NOT to the respective soft-core challenge league.

Starting with the Cruel difficulty level, you will start to lose 5% of experience, and with Merciless – 10% for each death. This will significantly affect the leveling of the character, which can be greatly delayed, especially if you decide to play a new build. Moreover, at high levels, the leveling of 10% of the experience will take a very long time. Note that your character has only one life in Hardcore leagues. When your character dies in hardcore, it gets transferred to Standart (default). When you die in default, you lose XP.

The deadline for the hardcore League may increase to 50%.
